Moreno Valley Man Killed In Riverside Car Accident

Posted on

The man, who was 34 years old but who has not otherwise been identified, was killed after witnesses say he ran a red light, struck another car and finally a brick wall.

The police reported that he drove through a red light at a Riverside intersection then collided with another vehicle whose driver sustained some minor injuries. The accident happened around 9:45 a.m. at the intersection of Campus Parkway and Day Street.

Sgt. Erich Feimer stated that the fatally injured motorist was headed westbound on Campus in a 2009 Dodge Avenger which he owned. He drove straight through the red light at Day, hitting a 2018 Ford Focus. The Ford was driven by a 51-year-old Moreno Valley man who was going south. After pushing the Focus sideways, the Dodge then hit a decorative brick wall at the southwest corner of the intersection.

The Dodge driver was not wearing his seatbelt and suffered fatal injuries. Sgt. Feimer also said that the driver succumbed minutes after being transported to Riverside University Medical Center in Moreno Valley. Drugs and alcohol have not been ruled out as possible factors in the crash. The other driver suffered minor injuries, but there is no information on whether he was taken to the hospital.
